The Pontiff’s visit was experienced with great emotion from all the parishioners.
The day the Pope Benedict XVI has dedicated to visit the Sanctuary di Nostra Signora Misericordiosa, will stay in the memories of all Savonese people and all the people who attended this important event.
The Pontiff’s day developed as follows:
He arrived to the Sanctuary Basilic N.S. di Misericordia on a helicopter at 16:45 p.m.;
His entrance on the Popemobile to Piazza del Popolo was at 17:45 p.m., where the solemn Eucharist was professed and lasted up to two hours.
Successively, the Pontiff has visited the appartment of Pio VI in the bishop’s residence.
His visit has also involved the Darsena in Savona from he was transferred in helicopter to Genoa.
